Allen Wins Big Home Game Over Scotties

The Allen Men's Basketball team improved to 3-0 in KJCCC action with a 78-59 win over the Highland Scotties. The first half of play was very physical and both teams struggled to gain any major advantage in the game. After a quick 11-3 lead for the Red Devils the Scotties came back and took a lead of their own, and the teams traded blows for the remainder of the half. Allen was able to sneak into halftime with a 2 point lead at 31-29.

In the second half the Allen crowd really helped give the Red Devils some energy. After not shooting the ball great from the perimeter in the first half, Allen was able to connect on several 3-point attempts in the second half to maintain a lead. Ed Wright was able to get by the Highland defenders and put pressure on their defense the entire second half. Wright was able to convert at the rim and helped push Allen's lead to double digits.

Late in the second half the Red Devils made their final push after an impressive lob pass from Brandon Lawrence to Zabriel Boozer for the dunk, followed by a Ed Wright 3 pointer which really got the crowd going. The Allen defense was huge in the second half, as they came up with timely defensive stops to help put the game away.

Ed Wright continued his hot streak with 31 points to lead all scorers. Scottie Turner and Cedric Rollerson both scored 12. Brayden Thompson put together a good game with 9 points and 8 rebounds.

Allen is now 14-4 on the season, and 3-0 in KJCCC action. Allen will travel south to Neosho this Saturday for a rivalry matchup with Neosho County at 4:00 pm.
