Allen Men Take Down Ottawa

The Allen Men's Basketball team won their first game back from Christmas break with a 91-71 victory over the Ottawa University reserve team. The Ottawa Braves started the game with the momentum as they connected on several early 3 point attempts. The Braves led 17-13, but then the Red Devils bench would go on a big run to give Allen the lead for good. The Red Devils held Ottawa scoreless for a long stretch of time, and Allen led by 19 at the halftime break (49-30).

In the second half the two teams traded baskets in the early going, as the lead held steady around 18 points. Midway through the half Ottawa cut the lead down to just 13 after Allen was given a delay of game technical for cleaning up water on the floor after a timeout. Shortly after the delay of game was called, Head Coach Andy Shaw also was given a technical as he was not happy with the delay of game technical.

Fortunately from there the Red Devils would close the game out and pushed the lead back up to over 20 points. Ed Wright led the way in scoring with 16 points on 7 of 14 from the floor. Brayden Thompson had a good game inside for the Red Devils with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Tanner Meyer and Brandon Lawrence each scored 11 points.

Next up the Red Devils will travel to Parsons, Kansas on Wednesday for the first KJCCC conference matchup against Labette. Allen is now 11-4 on the season.
