Allen Wins First Road Game

On Friday evening the Allen Red Devils took on the Thunder Ducks of Richland College. Allen would come away with a win in dramatic fashion 60-59. Allen got off to a quick start as Ed Wright knocked down back-to-back 3's, but the Thunder Ducks would go on a run and ended the first half with a 5-point lead.

Richland continued to play well to start the second half, and even pushed their lead up to as many as 11 points around the 12:00  minute mark of the half. Allen would not quit, as they went on a huge run to regain the lead with 8 minutes remaining. Trevian Sylvester provided a big spark for Allen as he got to the free-throw line and also knocked down a big 3-point attempt that gave the Red Devils all of the momentum. Allen pushed their lead up to as many as 8 points with 4:00 minutes to play. But then Allen started turning over the basketball which led to some easy run out points for the Thunder Ducks.

With about 45 seconds remaining Richland stormed back and took the lead off of a mid-range jump shot. After a timeout, the Red Devils got the ball in the hands of Ed Wright who drove to the lane and made a runner to give the Red Devils a 1-point advantage with about 25 seconds to go.

On the final possession of the game Richland missed a go ahead jump shot, but they got the offensive rebound and got fouled with 1.7 seconds remaining. Richland stepped to the free-throw line, but luckily for the Red Devils they missed both free-throw attempts giving Allen the 60-59 win.

This win pushes Allen to 4-3 on the season, and the Red Devils will conclude the Dallas trip with a matchup vs Brookhaven College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
