Allen Wins Big Over Rival Neosho

The Allen Men's Basketball team earned their third straight win Wednesday night with a 84-59 win over rival Neosho County. The Red Devils never trailed in the game. Both teams would struggle on the offensive end in the early going, but a barrage of three pointers from the Red Devils midway through the half led to a big Allen run. The Red Devils held a 37-19 advantage at the break, as Allen held Neosho to just 6-29 for 21% from the floor in the first half.

In the early going of the second half the Panthers fed off some sloppy play by the Red Devils, and cut the Red Devil lead down to 11 points midway through the half. Fortunately the Red Devils would regroup as Amadou Traore had a couple huge dunks and old fashioned 3 point plays that led to another big Allen run. The Red Devils would take care of business from there to earn a big rivalry win.

Allen had two players finish the game with double-double's as Freddie Word led all scorers with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Amadou Traore also scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Shaikim Jenks scored 6 points, but his defense on #11 Magic Reliford was a major factor in the game. Reliford had scored over 30 points in three of Neosho's last four games.

This win pushes the Red Devils to 6-11 on the year, and 5-10 in KJCCC play. Allen will next travel to #6 nationally ranked Coffeyville Saturday afternoon. Then Allen will have the re-match with Neosho on Monday night at 5:30 pm (men's game only).
