Allen Downs Dodge City

The Allen Men's Basketball team pushed their win streak to 9 straight as they took down Dodge City 93-81 on Wednesday night. The Red Devils jumped on the Conq's midway through the first half, in large part to 3 point shooting from Trez Hankins and Canaan Daniels. Allen was able to stretch the lead out to double digits as Hankins and Daniels made 6 of 8 attempts from 3 combined in the first half. The Red Devils went into the halftime break with a commanding lead 53-30.

In the early going of the second half the Red Devils were a little sloppy with the basketball and turned the ball over several times for easy points for the Conq's. Fortunately Allen was able to maintain their lead and continued knocking down perimeter shots. At one point the Allen lead swelled to as many as 30 points midway through the second half. All of the Red Devils who were suited up got playing time. Dodge City kept fighting until the very end and was able to cut into the Red Devil lead.

In the end Allen's first half punch was too much for the Conq's to overcome. Allen was balanced in scoring as only two players reached double figures scoring even though the Red Devils scored 93 points for the game. Trez Hankins and Joel Boyce led the way in scoring with 16 points each. Shaikim Jenks had nice performance with 9 points and 4 assists off the bench. Freshman forward Donzell Carter scored 6 points but was big on the glass with 9 rebounds.

This game marked the final game of the first semester for the Red Devils. Allen is now 10-4 on the season, and goes into the break with a perfect 5-0 conference record. Allen will return to action on January 4th at Hutchinson for matchup with the Blue Dragons.
