Allen Hangs On To Win Over Colby

The Allen Men's Basketball team snuck out a close win over the Colby Trojans Saturday afternoon 83-78. Allen and Colby would remain close throughout most of the first half, but Trez Hankins got hot from the 3 point line in the final minutes of the first half to give the Red Devils an 11 point lead at halftime (40-29). In the first half Allen's defense would hold the Trojans to just 37.5% from the floor.

The second half would be a different story as the Trojans came out hot and the Red Devils defense struggled getting stops. Colby would come all the way back and even took a brief 1 point lead. The Red Devils offense would pick it up in the late going, and Colby also suffered timely technical fouls which led to Allen free-throws. In a back and forth second half the Red Devils were fortunate to come away with a win over a Colby team that only had 1 loss coming into the matchup.

Trez Hankins led the way in scoring for Allen with 22 points on 5 of 10 from the 3 point line. Malik Hardmon recorded another impressive double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Joel Boyce also reached double digits with 14 points and also dished out 3 assists. This win moves the Red Devils to 4-0 in KJCCC play, and improves their overall record to 9-4 on the season. Allen will finish out the first semester this Wednesday with a home matchup vs Dodge City Community College. Game time is set for 8:00 PM.
