Allen Continues Win Streak

The Allen Men's Basketball team continued their winning streak as they defeated Garden City 94-81 on Saturday afternoon. For the majority of the first half of play the Red Devils and Broncbusters would go back and forth as neither team held more than a 3 point lead. Towards the end of the first half the Red Devils would close on a run and pushed the lead to 7 points at the break (42-35).

In the second half Allen would extend their lead over 10 points quickly and never were seriously threatened the rest of the game. Garden City would go to a zone trap most of the second half, and Allen would handle it well for the most part. Allen finished the game with only 12 turnovers, which helped them seal the win. Every time Garden City would go on a mini run the Red Devils seemed to have an answer to keep the lead around 10 points.

Malik Hardmon had a monster night with 35 points on 12 of 20 from the floor, and a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. Hardmon also grabbed 12 rebounds to earn another double-double for the season, and also played great defense with 5 blocked shots. Freshman point guard Cedric Rollerson put together a solid performance with 18 points, many from the free throw line where he went 8 for 9. Joel Boyce also reached double digits with 15 points and also grabbed 5 rebounds.

This win pushes Allen overall record to 7-4, and more importantly 2-0 in KJCCC play. This win marked the 100th win for head coach Andy Shaw at Allen Community College. Coach Shaw wants to thank all of his former assistant coaches and players for helping him reach this milestone at Allen Community College.

Next up Allen will travel west to Liberal, KS to take on Seward County on Wednesday night at 8:00 PM.
