Allen Men Continue To Struggle

The Allen Men's Basketball team continued their struggles as they dropped their 6th consecutive game, falling 77-85 at Neosho on Saturday evening. The Red Devils were cold from beyond the arc, as they had several wide open shots in the first few minutes of play, but could not get anything to fall. Allen started the first half going 0-10 from the 3 point line and many of them were wide open shots. Early both teams struggled scoring, but due to the poor shooting of the Red Devils the Panthers were able to jump out to a lead. The Red Devils were down by as much as 15 points midway through the first half (30-15), but Allen would close the half on a big run to cut the Panther lead to 34-39 at the halftime break.

In the second half the Red Devils were still cold from beyond the arc, and Neosho was able to push their lead up to as much as 20 points with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game. Allen did not quit, and stormed back in the final minutes of the game, and actually got within 3 points with a couple minutes to play. Unfortunately the comeback would not be enough, and the Red Devils dropped their 6th straight game.

Malik Hardmon had a big game for the Red Devils as he recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Darius Love also recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Trez Hankins scored 12 points on 3 of 13 shooting from the 3 point line. Perry Carroll struggled from the floor, but got to the free-throw line 12 times and connected on 11 to give him 11 points for the game.

The Red Devils will have a quick turnaround as they head to Great Bend to take on Barton on Monday night at 7:30 PM. Allen is now 4-9 in Jayhawk Conference play, and 12-10 overall on the season.
