Allen Men's Basketball Wins Season Opener

Allen Men's Basketball Wins Season Opener

The Allen Men's Basketball team opened the season with a win on Friday evening. The Red Devils defeated NOC Tonkawa by the score of 77-68. Allen got off to a quick start in the game, and quickly grabbed a double digit lead in large part to good perimeter shooting, as Perry Carroll got off to a hot start from behind the 3 point line to extend the Red Devil lead. The story of the first half for Allen was their defense. The Red Devils only gave up 23 points in the first half of play, and led 41-23 at the half time break.

The second half was a bit different, as NOC Tonkawa made several runs to cut into the lead. Luckily, Allen was able to slow down those runs with some big shots made by Perry Carroll and Wesley Anderson Jr and kept the lead the entire contest. Tonkawa kept fighting until the end, but did not have enough to erase the big lead the Red Devils gained in the first half.

Allen was led in scoring by Perry Carroll with 21 points and 4 assists. Jamaal Clifton posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Wesley Anderson Jr. chipped in 16 points on 3 of 5 shooting from the 3 point line. Trez Hankins scored 10 points in his first game as a Red Devil.
