Allen Loses First Conference Game to Coffeyville

The Allen Men's basketball team lost their home conference debut against the #14 nationally ranked Coffeyville Red Ravens 67-81. The Red Devils got off to a very slow start, as Coffeyville opened the game with a 13-4 lead. From there Allen would slowly begin to chip away at the Red Raven lead and entered the halftime break down 31-38.

In the second half Allen responded early and kept the game close for the majority of the 2nd half, but never could get over the hump in large part due to poor free throw shooting from the Red Devils. Allen went 21-37 (56.8%) for the game from the free throw line, while Coffeyville went 28-39 (71.8%) for the game. Defensive rebounding also plagued Allen in the 2nd half, as Coffeyville was able to earn 2nd chance points on the boards. Allen fought tough the entire game, but couldn't find the rhythm on the offensive end to ever give themselves a serious chance of winning the game.

Allen had 4 players reach double figures scoring, as Jacob Patterson and Darius Love led the way in scoring for Allen with 12 points each. Patterson also grabbed 7 rebounds which was the most by any Red Devil. Tyler Williams scored 11 points, and Perry Carroll had 10 points.

The Red Devils will travel Wednesday November 15th to their rival Neosho for their 2nd conference matchup at 7:30 PM. The Red Devils are now 2-3 on the season and 0-1 in Jayhawk Conference play.
