Allen Sweeps Neosho

The Allen Men's Basketball team completed the season sweep of rival Neosho CC by the score of 90-76. The Red Devils struggled early in the game to cut into Neosho's zone defense, but as the game went on Allen was able to get going from the 3 point line to help earn the victory. Allen connected on 12 three pointers on the night to Neosho's 3 made three point attempts. In the early going both teams traded the lead, as there were 15 lead changes, with all of the lead changes occurring in the first half. Allen was able to grab a 2 point half time lead, 43-41, in large part to Quentin Blaue knocking down back to back 3's in the last minute of the first half.

 

In the second half Allen was able to separate in the early going, and pushed the lead to 19 points with 14 minutes left to play in the game. Once again, Quentin Blaue got going from the 3 point line early in the second half to help spark the big run for the Red Devils. Blaue finished the game 6/12 from the 3 point line, scoring 20 points. DaRon Mims had a huge night for Allen, scoring 32 points and grabbing 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Mims was able to score in transition throughout the game, and also did a good job from the free-throw line, connecting on 13 of his 14 attempts.

 

Jah-Kobe Womack played big for the Red Devils, as he scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Womack provided an early spark scoring in the first half and made some big baskets late in the game as well. EJ Garnes continued his solid play, scoring 15 points and dishing out 8 assists on the night. Garnes had success driving and kicking against Neosho's zone defense.

 

With the win, Allen improves to 7-8 in Jayhawk Conference play, and also jumps back above .500 on the season with an overall record of 10-9. Allen will return home for rematch with Colby CC on Wednesday night at 8:00 PM. Allen won their last matchup with Colby on a last second buzzer beater by DaRon Mims.
