Allen men's basketball split their two road games

Allen men's basketball split their two road games over the past two days, losing to Garden City 73-83, but then bouncing back to beat Dodge City CC 97-88 in overtime. 

Both games were close down the stretch. Against Garden City the Red Devils hung close, but struggled to get defensive stops down the stretch. 

At Dodge City (receiving votes in NJCAA poll) the Red Devils had to make a big comeback in the final 10 minutes to earn their first conference win. Allen faced a 13 point deficit midway through the first half, but Allen battled back and cut the lead to two points at the break (37-39). 

In the second half Allen once again found themselves trailing by double digits. Dodge City was really effective scoring in transition and pushed the lead up to 16 points with 11:00 to play. The Red Devils did not quit and slowly mounted a comeback. Allen trailed by 10 points with 4:00 to play. Allen began trapping all over and forced Dodge to miss shots, and Allen converted at the rim to tie the game in the final minute. 

Allen had two game winning shots in regulation, but neither fell. In overtime the Red Devils jumped out to a lead and was able to hang on and converted 8 of 10 free throws to seal the game. DaRon Mims lead Allen in scoring with 26 points. Jermaine along recorded a double double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Darnell Jones-Bowie scored 21. 

Allen earned their first conference win and is now 1-3 in conference play at the Christmas break.
