Moberly over Allen in a tough overtime battle

Allen Men's Basketball lost Saturday night to Moberly Area Community College, and once again the game was decided in overtime. Allen played really well for the first 30 minutes of play. Allen even built a lead of 15 points midway through the second half. Moberly mounted a steady come-back and made the game tight in the final minutes.

Allen was up one point with under 20 seconds to go, and forced Moberly into a missed shot, and Allen grabbed the rebound and looked as though they would pull away with the win, but the ball was stripped and became a loose ball. Allen dove on the ball and tried to call timeout, but Moberly jumped on the pile and they officials called jump ball. The possession arrow favored Moberly. On the ensuing possession Allen fouled with 6 seconds left. Moberly connected on 1 of 2 free throws, which tied the game. Darnell Jones-Bowie had a layup attempt at the buzzer that was contested, but the shot did not fall.

In overtime it was all Moberly, and Allen struggled to keep up. Stats were not provided after the game. Allen will host KCKCC on Tuesday night at 8:00 PM.
