Marielle Melvin is a regional & national award winning dance instructor, cheer coach, and choreographer with over 25 years of experience. A native of Iola, Kansas, she started her cheer & dance training at the young age of 2.

Marielle has trained in many genres including: ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hip hop, musical theatre, lyrical, modern, contemporary, African, pom, kick, and cheer. During her time as a performer, Marielle was a member of South Street Dance Company's “Star Fire Company Class” and competitive dance team. Marielle is a regional and national award winning dancer, attending numerous dance competitions and conventions throughout the Midwest and Southern regions. Marielle has won numerous Top 1st, Judges' Choice, and overall high score accolades at these competitions. Marielle was hired as a member of “The Lazers”; the official dance troupe of the Miss Kansas Pageant (the Kansas state preliminary to the Miss America Pageant). A seasoned pageant competitor, Marielle has also used her dancing ability to win many talent category awards and titles. Since then she has also worked as a pageant coach and choreographer.

While Attending Iola Senior High School she was a member of the Varsity Spirit Squad cheer/dance team for 4 years. She held the position of choreographer or co-choreographer all 4 years and was chosen as Captain her senior year. She was a NCA All-American Nominee and UCA All-Star award winner. Marielle also was awarded the Captain Leadership award, along with the safe stunt award.

Marielle was chosen to be a member of the Allen County Community College FireStarters Dance Team. She was handpicked by Coach K as a member of the “Elite Technical” Competition Team. They received the overall high score for the performance of their home routine at MA Dance Camp. As an individual at this camp, Marielle was awarded the All-Star Performer ribbon for those who excel in advanced classes of Level 3-5. She was also awarded the Honor Roll Medal for the top 10% of the “Most Outstanding All-Star Performers”. While attending Emporia State University, Marielle was a member and choreographer of the ESU Stingers Dance Team and the ESU Marching Hornets Drill Team. She was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and received several awards including “Best Performer”. Marielle was chosen as a member of the ESU Student Athlete Advisory Board for the “Stingers”. While a student at ESU, Marielle furthered her dance education by enrolling in and studying ballet and modern dance classes.

Marielle has over 15 years of experience in coaching and choreographing all styles of dance! She has worked with, coached, and choreographed for middle school, high school, and college dance teams, cheer squads, and show choirs. Marielle has had the pleasure of choreographing theatrical productions for community theatre, community college, and universities. She has held her own dance camps and been a camp counselor for Midwest Movement Dance Camp. Marielle has been a teacher and/or choreographer for several dance studios throughout the region including South Street Dance Company, Diamond Dance Academy, Cooper Studios Dance Center, and Spotlight Dance Academy. She is also a certified tumbling instructor.

In 2014 Marielle opened her own Dance & Cheer Studio, Supernova Dance Authority, in Iola. Since opening Marielle has led her competitive cheer and dance teams to numerous Regional and National titles. Her dancers and cheerleaders have received awards and scholarships for their technique and performance as well as sportsmanship awards. Marielle has also been the recipient of several teaching/coaching awards and choreography awards. The Supernova Elite Cheer team, under Marielle’s direction, has also won overall 1st place and the coveted, “Golden Ticket” to World’s, the past 3 years.

Several of Marielle's former students have received college dance and/or cheer scholarships and been members and leaders of their college dance teams. Marielle’s former dancers and cheerleaders have also received positions on UCA and UDA staff.

Marielle is so excited to be back at ALLEN! She is looking forward to the next chapter in her coaching career and is so grateful for the opportunity to work with the amazing athletes and students at Allen Community College. With her enthusiasm, expertise, and passion she is a dynamic coach! Marielle hopes to inspire her athletes to become the best versions of themselves and take their abilities to the next level, while succeeding in the classroom. GO DEVILS!
