Allen Drops 3 of 4 to Greyhounds

The Red Devil Baseball team took on the Fort Scott Greyhounds in a 4 game conference match up, with the first two games taking place in Fort Scott and the final two games of the series taking place in Iola.  The Red Devils lost Game one 9-4 before falling in Game 2 11-3.

In Game 1 Nate Postlethwait (Valley Center, KS) got the start.  Postlethwait who took the loss lasted 3 innings surrendering 5 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 3.  Jonathan Walker (Topeka, KS), Jarod Cooper (Berryton, KS) and Nathan Woodruff (Atlanta, GA) combined to throw the final 3 innings. 

Aaron Mason (Omaha, NE) and Kenny Allred (Papillion, NE) both had multi hit games.  Mason finished 2 for 4 with a homerun and 2 runs scored. 

Game 2 sophomore Jacob Hollingsworth (Maumelle, AR) got his first start of the season.  Hollingsworth got the loss as he went 2 innings giving up 3 runs, striking out 1 and giving up 4 hits.  Taylor Gulick (Baker City, OR) threw 5 innings giving up 6 runs 4 of which were earned, striking out 6 and surrendering 7 hits.  Tyler Turner (Lowell, AR) threw the final inning in the loss.

Dylan Price (Victoria, BC) finished the day 1 for 4 with a homerun.  Matt Phipps (Dublin, OH) and Sky-Lar Culver (Mountain Home, AR) finished the day with the other 2 rbi's. 

Starting the first game at home for the Red Devils was Jacob Potter (Victoria, BC).  Potter went 3 1/3 innings giving up 8 runs only 3 of which were earned.  Potter punched out 4 while only walking 1 and giving up 6 hits.  Throwing the final 2 2/3 was Tyler Turner.  Turner struck out 1 giving up 5 runs and walking one.

Baxter Mays (Sedalia, MO) finished the day going 2 for 3 with two singles.  Also having hits for the Red Devils were Culver and Mason. 

Taking the mound in Game 2 for the Red Devils was Austin Cross (Hillsboro, KS).  Cross went 2 innings giving up 5 runs 3 of which were earned striking out 5 and waling 3.  Coleton Crisp (Whitewater, KS) and Trace Embray (Knoxville, IA) managed to throw 5 shutout innings striking out 4 and only giving up 1 hit.  Conner Darnell (Chouteau, OK) threw the final two innings of scoreless baseball earning the victory.

Offensively for the Red Devils in game 2 Brayden Whitchurch (Wichita, KS) was 1 for 5 with 2 rbi's.  Dylan Price finished the day going 3 for 4.  Aaron Mason also went 2 for 4.

Next up for the Red Devils will be a home double header against Kansas City Kansas Community College at home starting at 1 pm.  Then the Red Devils will travel to KCK for the double header finale on Saturday also starting at one.
