Chanute, KS- The Red Devils split the last of their two games with Neosho County at Hudson Field on Saturday. Game 1 was a back and forth affair that last 11 innings, with the Red Devils finally breaking through with the lead in the top of the 11th. The Red Devils lost Game 2 8-0.
Starting on the mound was Jacob Potter (Victoria, BC). Potter went 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits striking out 4. Jonathan Walker (Topeka, KS) went 2 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. Conner Darnell (Chouteau, OK) came in and 2 innings giving up 2 runs and scatter 3 hits. Getting the win for the Red Devils as Trace Embray (Knoxville, IA). Embray threw 3 scoreless innings, striking out 3 and giving up 2 hits.
Justus Burke (Bettendorf, IA) finished the game going 3 for 6 with a triple and 3 RBI's. Also having a multi hit game was Sky-Lar Culver (Mountain Home, AR) who had 3 hits with a double. Aaron Mason (Omaha, NE) and Matt Phipps (Dublin, OH) both had 2 hit days. Nathan Best (Olathe, KS) had 2 hits, one of which scored the go ahead runs in the top of the 11th.
In Game 2 the ball was handed to Taylor Gulick (Baker City, OR). Gulick went 1 inning giving up 4 runs none of which were earned. The Red Devils went to several other pitchers Austin Cross (Hillsboro, KS) , Hector Abreu (Yabucoa, PR), Jake Pease (Fort Wayne, IN), Coleton Crisp (Whitewater, KS) and Nate Berry (Colony, KS) threw the rest of the combined 6 innings.
The offense was lead by Kenny Allred (Papillion, NE) who finished going 2 for 3. The Red Devils managed 8 hits none for extra bases in Game 2.
The Red Devils are off till they face Fort Scott for a KJCCC show down on the Thursday and Saturday. Thursday will be at Fort Scott and Saturday will be in Iola. Both days the first pitch will be at 1 pm.
