Baseball Splits First 2 Game Series With Neosho

Iola, KS- The Red Devils hosted Neosho County at home on Thursday on the campus of Allen County. Winning Game 1 by a score of 14-4 before turning around and losing Game 2 28-13.

Taking the ball for the Red Devils was Nate Postlethwait (Valley Center, KS).  Postlethwait gave the Red Devils a quality start going 4 innings surrendering 10 hits while only walking 1 and striking out 4.  Postlethwait only allowed 4 runs to the Panthers and provided the offense a chance to get going. Jacob Potter (Victoria, BC) threw the last inning which was a scoreless frame. 

Getting the Red Devil offense going was Sky-Lar Culver (Mountain Home, AR).  Culver was 3 for 4 with a Home Run and 3 RBI's.  Also having a big days at the plate were Baxter Mays (Sedalia, MO) and Tony Dougan (Wellsville, KS).  Mays and Dougan both finished with 3 hits a piece.  Brayden Whitchurch (Wichita, KS) had 2 hits and finished with 4 RBI's.

In Game 2 getting the start was Sophomore Reid Browning (Topeka, KS).  Browning last 3 2/3 innings giving up 10 runs 7 of which were earned.  Also getting in on the action was Jared Cooper (Berryton, KS), Conner Darnell (Chouteau, OK), Tyler Turner (Lowell, AR), Brent Bayse (Great Bend, KS) and Nathan Woodruff (Atlanta, GA).  They combined for the final 3 1/3 innings.

Offensivly for the Red Devils Aaron Mason (Omaha, NE) and Justice Burke (Bettendorf, IA) both had 4 hit days and both had 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's.  Also hitting 2 homeruns was Sky-Lar Culver.  Culver finished with 3 RBI's in game 2.
