Four More Players to Allen

Women’s Basketball

Coach Leslie Crane is pleased to announce the addition of four more recruits for the Women’s basketball program. These young women will be joining the team and attending school starting in August of 2022. They are Tonya Williams, Jania Jones, Britney Schroer and Shade Richardson.

Tonya Williams will be coming to Iola from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she attended Socastee High School. Tonya is a point guard with great quickness and speed. She uses her deceptive quickness to wreak havoc on opponent’s guards as well as getting to the glass to score. She is a good three-point shooter who averaged 10pts and 3 steals a game but she also distributes the ball very well to the open scorer.

Coach Crane on Tonya- “Tonya is a quick defender at the point position, who can slash to the glass and shoot the 3. She has many weapons to score with and we are excited for the progress that Tonya will make in our system. She is a natural fit into our defensive system and will make the full court and perimeter defenses very effective and tough for our opponents.”

Jania Jones will be graduating from Fivay High School in Hudson, Florida. Jania is a 6’2” center who averaged 12pts and 10rbs a game. She is a strong rebounder with a good base of offensive scoring tools who will not shy away from any physicality.

Coach Crane on Jania- “I am very excited to have Jania join us this season as she was the final piece to our puzzle for this upcoming team. Not only will she be a strong scoring post offensively she will also give us a strong defensive presence with her shot blocking and the shots she will change with her length and timing. As Jania continues to get stronger and work on her game, she can become a real difference maker for our team.”

Britney Schroer will be joining us from Chase County High School via Barton County Community College. She is a transfer player who is a power forward with 3 point shooting range and soft touch around the basket. She was big reason why her high school team went 20-4 her junior year and 16-6 her Senior year and did well in post season play.

Coach Crane on Britney-“Britney will be a welcome addition to our interior game this year. Not only will she help shore up the lane with her tough defense, her scoring abilities will continue our post game dominance! She brings a love for the game, dedication and a desire to improve plus real college experience to our Women’s program.”

Our last newcomer is Shade Richardson from Northeast High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Shade is also a college transfer, who has a desire to make herself better and work hard to improve her game.

Coach Crane on Shade- “Shade is bringing experience, tough defensive intensity and quickness and speed to our perimeter. Her defense fits into our system very well and she does a great job of getting the ball to the right person as well as scoring when she needs to. She averaged 9pts and 8 rebs in a tough high school conference so I see her making the adjustments needed to help make our team successful.”
