Red Devils Lose Series 1-2 to Neosho CC to End Season

GAME ONE

The Red Devils took game one in the best 2-out-of-3 series for the first round of Region VI from Neosho CC on Saturday, May 4th.

Madisyn Thompson’s three-run home on the first pitch of her at bat gave the Red Devils a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Neosho CC answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Darby Lewis put one more insurance run on the board on an RBI single to right field in the fifth inning.

Chloe Enderud was the winning pitcher for the Red Devils. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits.

Lewis led the Red Devils with two hits in three at bats.

GAME TWO

Red Devils lost the lead late in a 5-3 defeat to Neosho CC in game two on Saturday to tie the series at 1-1.

Neosho CC got on the board first scoring one in the first inning and another run in the second. Allen began the fight back with two RBI-singles by Olivia Wilcox in the fourth and sixth inning to tie the game. Neosho CC answered back putting three runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth. The Red Devils fell short of the comeback only scoring one run in the top of the seventh off of a solo home run by Lauren Mills.

Ashtyn Jurging took the loss for Red Devils. She allowed seven hits and five runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five.

Red Devils lost despite out-hitting Neosho CC ten to seven. Sam Greninger, Olivia Wilcox, and Darby Lewis all had multiple hits for Red Devils. Lewis, Wilcox, and Greninger each managed two hits to lead Red Devils.

GAME THREE

The Red Devils fell after losing the lead late in a 5-3 defeat to Neosho CC on Sunday, May 5th to lose the series.

In the first inning, Neosho CC got their offense started scoring two. The Red Devils got one run of their own in the top of the second as Meg Kirk drove in Sam Greninger. They then tied the game 2-2 when Lauren Mills homered off of her first pitch of the at bat in the top of the fourth inning. Neosho CC had a big fifth inning putting up three more runs to give them the lead. Despite a strong fight back, Allen could only put one more run up off of an RBI single by Madisyn Thompson in the top of the sixth.

Chloe Enderud took the loss for the Red Devils. She allowed eight hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Red Devils tallied seven hits. Mills and Thompson each collected multiple hits for Red Devils at two apiece.

The Red Devils end their season with a record of 15-31 on the season.
