Allen Community College rolled to a 9-5 victory over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Tuesday, but could not maintain that momentum in a 10-2 loss in the second game.

Jena Hendrix?s big day lifted Allen Community College?s softball team to victory Tuesday.

Hendrix went 2-for-3, including a three-run home run as the Red Devils rolled to a 9-5 victory over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, in the first game of a doubleheader.

Alas, Allen could not sustain the momentum, falling 10-2 in the nightcap.

The split puts Allen at 8-10 on the season with a home doubleheader against Johnson County on the calendar Thursday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

Allen had plenty of baserunners in the opener, but also stranded several in the early going. Kylar Smith?s RBI single was good for a run, and Bethany Gould walked with the bases loaded to push ACC ahead, 2-1. But the Red Devils also left the bases loaded in each of the second and third innings.

That changed in the fourth. Smith reached on an error and Morgan Collins hit a double, putting runners on second and third with one out, setting the stage for Hendrix?s three-run shot. Camryn Yardley followed with a double before Ashley Tribble blasted a two-run home run for a 7-1 advantage.

The Lady Norse pared the deficit to 7-4 in the bottom of the fourth before Smith doubled and scored on Bethany Goehring?s ground-out that accounted for the eighth run for Allen in the fifth. A ninth run came home on a fielding error.

Yardley was the pitching benefactor. She scattered eight hits over seven innings and struck out three to earn the win.

Tribble had a home run. Yardley, Smith and Collins each doubled. Goehring and Bailee Campbell both had singles.

ABBY Marsh gave Allen a lift in the second game, with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth. Problem was, NEO already held an 8-0 lead at the time.

Allen was limited to four hits in the loss. Collins had a double.Yardley and Smith added singles.

Collins allowed six hits over 2.1 innings of work with a strikeout. Marsh came on in relief, giving up two hits over 1.2 innings.

Red Devils are back in action Friday at Southeast Community College and host Iowa Central on Sunday.
